Second step, get good tools. HF tools aren't going to help you out at all building an engine. Good inspection equipment is a great idea also.

Make sure you put things on in the right sequence, or else it will be a headache down the line. And don't forget to put the oil squirters in before the rotating assembly!

What else have I learned... order a gasket kit, but also order oil squirter gaskets and the oil tree o-ring (not included with the kit). Some say you can reuse the oil tree oring but I recommend putting a new one, you will see why when you try to take the old one out.

Keep everything super clean, keep the engine in a bag when youre not working on it.
